Why ‘wives’?

In 2012, AMWChoir members voted to adopt the name ‘Australian Military Wives Choir’.

We use the word ‘wife’ collectively, describing our connection to Defence serving members and as voices covering the female vocal range.

Celebrating our strength and common experience, the AMWChoir creates safe spaces for women and girls across Australia to sing for their hearts.

Together, we build on the legacy of those who went before us, and support each other as families who continue to walk the path of Australian Defence Force connection.
